Luscious Slush Punch

My family has been drinking the same refreshing slush drink for as long as I can remember. With the heat we've been having in Toronto over the last few months, however, it was time to try a new cool drink. So for my beverage I made Luscious Slush Punch from allrecipes.com.

I only made half the recipe, so here are the ingredients:
1 1/4 cups sugar
3 cups water
1 3 oz. pkg. strawberry gelatin
28 oz. pineapple juice
1/3 cup lemon juice
4 cups orange juice
lemon-lime pop

It's really easy - boil sugar, water, and Jello for 3 minutes, stirring occassionally. Stir in juices. Freeze. Stir in pop until slushy.

The recipe calls for a 2-liter bottle of lemon-lime pop to be mixed with all the other ingredients. We only wanted to make two servings at a time, though, so playing around with the ratios occurred. My preference was 2 ice cream scoops of frozen slush with half a can of pop. John's preference was as much slush as he could get in the glass with 1/3 a can of pop. That's what is shown below:

Overall, it was very cold and refreshing. If I were hosting a shower or party, I would make it again. If I were looking for something to serve at various times in individual cups, I would make our old recipe. The ingredients are quite similar but because there's banana in it, it's more slushy, a little more sweet, and more refreshing.

In case you're interested, here it is (and I half it!):
12 oz. frozen OJ
6 oz. frozen lemonade
36 oz. water
6 bananas
46 oz. pineapple juice
4 cups sugar
4 cups water

Process the frozen juices and bananas in blender with water. Pour into a large bowl. Add pineapple juice. Heat the 4 cups of sugar in the 4 cups of water until sugar dissolves. Stir into fruit juice mixture. Pour into two 9x13 pans and freeze. To serve, slightly thaw mixture so you can have shavings of slush and pour into glasses. Pour lemon-lime pop or Ginger Ale over the slush.
I'm Kristin. I live in Kelowna with my husband Alain and my busy daughter Esme. We're are also expecting our second baby in November.  I've always enjoyed cooking and used to do significantly more of it before Esme. :) Being pregnant and having a toddler running around, I'm always on the lookout for new tasty recipes that are quick and easy.

I`m Sara. I love living in Langley with my adorable daughter and handsome husband.

I`m a fair weather cook which in my case means I only love cooking when I have a challenge. Whether that be trying to cook healthier, spend less money, eat more vegetarian, or try new delicious recipes. I don`t like to simply maintain or I lose motivation. I`m excited to get some new inspiration from you all!

I'm Christa, and I live in Toronto with my husband, Peter, my daughter, Holly, and our cat, Laidy. Since I currently have the privilege of staying home full time I have completely taken over the cooking duties. As a result, I am needing to put a bit more effort into finding new recipes and keeping things fresh. This challenge is just the kind of thing I need to help motivate me in this area.

I'm Jemma! I like challenges and I like food, so I'm excited about this food challenge. I live in Langley with my handsome husband and crazy 1yr old son. I do not follow recipes very well (I'm too lazy to go out and get all the ingredients), but I love experimenting and especially like trying ethnic foods.
